Saint's split Egan series......

Posted Wednesday, April 30, 2008 by Saint's Reporter

The Saint's failed to sweep Conwell Egan, dropping the 2nd game by a score of 3-1 and now stand at second place in the Catholic League Blue with a record of 7-3.

(Junior) Pitcher Nicholas Piscitelli took to the mound today and kept his team in the game until the end. Piscitelli pitched a complete game while letting up only 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 10 batters.

(Junior) Joe Armata kept Egan close to the bag for the whole game after he gunned down 2 stolen base attempts in the 1st inning alone. Armata also picked off a base runner (Sophmore) Andrew Shaefer in the top of the 7th that came in to pitch-run for (Sophmore) DH, Daulton George

The Saint's bat's were almost at a standstill. Conwell Egan's Senior right hand pitcher, Andrew Sinon had a nice fastball and at times a curve just to keep the Saint's off balance and held the Saint's to just 4 total hit's.

The Saint's lone run came in the bottom of the 3rd inning after (Senior) Dan Behlau drew a walk and moved up to 3rd after (Sophmore) Reno Regalbuto reached base on a nicely laid bunt. With 2 outs, the sign was givin to Regalbuto to steal 2nd base and on the next pitch, Regalbuto was off running and was safe after the throw was a little wide right of the bag. Behlau, on the throw to 2nd, took off running for home and was safe after Egan's shortstop, (Junior) Sean O'Hara did'nt even make an attempt to make a play at home.

The Saint's will head to Bishop McDevitt next Tuesday, May 6th for a 3:45pm game and will then be back home against McDevitt on Thursday May 8th before finishing up the regular season the following week against Archbishop Wood.
