Posted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 by Saint's Reporter

The Saint's are now in first place after a 9-2 win over Conwell Egan on Tuesday, April 29th.

(Sophmore) Mark Donato took to the mound and pitched a complete game while only surrendering 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 walks and 3 hits while fanning 9 of Egan's batters.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Saint's exploded in the 2nd inning which accounted for 8 of their 9 runs. Coach Lou Spadiccini loves when the team puts rally's like that together but knows himself, and try's to instill in his team that to compete in the Catholic League Playoffs, they need to stay consistant and score every inning throughout the game.

(Junior) Joe Armata lead the 2nd inning off with a stand up triple and was replaced on the bases by (Junior) Anthony Pfettscher. (Sophmore) Mike Riverso then walked on 4 pitches and was replaced on the bases by (Junior) John Masciotro who moved up to 3rd after (Sophmore) Albert Baur hit a single to score Pfettscher and pick up the first R.B.I. of the game. (Senior) Aggie Osano then collected an R.B.I. on a fielders choice 5-4. Osano finished the day 3 for 4 with a single, 2 doubles and 2 R.B.I.'s. After (Freshman) Dominic Riverso walked, (Junior) Billy Fulginiti reached base on an error by Egans 3rd baseman which also brought in another run to make the score 3-1. After the Saint's next batter grounded out to 3rd, (Sophmore) Reno Regalbuto walked to load the bases. Mark Donato then hit a single which scored both Dom Riverso & Fulginiti and move Regalbuto up to 3rd base. Donato was replaced on the bases by (Freshman) John Snyder who stole 2nd base and scored on a single by Joe Armata who started the rally in the beginning of the 2nd inning. Anthony Pfettscher, again replaced Armata and scored on a double by Mike Riverso for the Saint's final run of the inning before the next batter grounded out to (Junior) Shorstop, Sean O'Hara. The Saint's only other run of the game came curtosy of a double to left center by Osano which scored Al Baur to make the score 9-2 which is how the game ended.

The Saint's need to sweep Conwell Egan to stay atop of the division. They will finish the series against Egan at home tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30th at 3:45pm.
