Posted Sunday, April 13, 2008 by Saint's Reporter

The Saint's lose a close non-league game to St. Joe's Prep by a score of 3-1. Although the Saint's only scored 1 run on 3 walks and 3 hits, they did outhit the Defending Champs who also only scored 1 earned run on 2 hits. The Saint's did'nt lose this game but instead beat themselves by comitting 6 errors in the field behind great pitching performances by (Junior) Pitcher Nicholas Piscitelli and (Senior) Pitcher TJ Kinsey.

Bottom half of the 1st inning, Prep's lead off batter "Tiagwad" reached base on an error by the Saint's 3rd basemen. After the 2 & 3 hitters went down by the way of 6-3 and a "K", Tiagwad, after stealing 2 bases scored on a base hit which was hit right back up the middle of the field by the Prep's cleanup hitter "Haas".

Top of the 3rd, the Saint's tied it up at 1 apiece. (Senior) Aggie Osano lead off with a double and was moved up to 3rd base after (Junior) Billy Fulginiti put down a beautiful bunt. (Junior) Blaze Cedrone then reached base after getting hit by a pitch and Osano scored on a single by (Senior) Centerfielder Dan Behlau.

Bottom of the 3rd, Piscitelli helped himself and had the Prep's leadoff batter "Tiagwad" ground out, right back to Piscitelli who fielded the ball and threw him out at first. Then "Malloy" reached base on an error by the Saint's shortstop and moved up to 3rd on another error, this time by the Saint's Centerfielder. Malloy then scored on a sac fly by cleanup hitter "Haas" who accounted for 2 of the Prep's 3 R.B.I.'s.

Piscitelli pitched 4 complete innings (39 Pitches) while only giving up 2 runs (0 earned) on no walks and 1 hit.

Kinsey came in relief and threw 2 innings (28 Pitches) while only giving up 1 run on no walks and 1 hit.

The Saint's new they did not get beat, but instead lose the game on their own mistakes. But at the end of the day, I think they realized how good they are and what they can acomplish if they limit the mistakes and play hard for 7 innings each and every game.

The Saint's start their next league series at home on Monday, April 14th @ 3:45pm vs Archbishop Carroll.
