Saint's win first of 2 game series vs Dougherty.....

The Saint's defeated Cardinal Dougherty in the 1st of a 2 game series by the score of 12-1.

Top of the 1st, (Senior) Dan Behlau and (Sophmore) Reno Regalbuto both scored the Saint's first two runs. (Sophmore) Mark Donato hit a sac fly to centerfield to score Behlau and (Sophmore) Al Baur scored Regalbuto after hitting into a 4-3.

With 1 out in the top of the 2nd inning, (Junior) Anthony Pfettscher reached base on a hit batter and was scored by an in the park Homerun by Dan Behlau who collected 2 of his 5 R.B.I.'s on the day.

Cardinal Dougherty managed to get their only run of the game in the bottom half of the 3rd inning after their 9 hole hitter reached base on a walk and was scored on a triple to left center by Dougherty's shortstop Joe Gallagher.

The Saint's only managed to get 1 more run over the next 3 innings before exploding in the top of the 6th inning, scoring 7 runs on 3 walks and 3 hits. After the Saint's 1 & 2 hole hitters hit into a 5-3 and U-3, the Saint's went on a two out rally. Mark Donato reached base on a single to right field and was scored by another in the park Homerun, this time by (Junior) Catcher, Joseph Armata. Albert Baur and (Senior) Aggie Osano both reached base on walks and then both moved into scoring position on a pass ball. (Sophmore) Michael Riverso then singled to right field to score both baserunners and record 2 R.B.I.'s. (Juniors) Billy Fulginiti and Anthony Pfettscher then reached base on a hit batter and a walk and was then scored by Dan Behlau who hit a triple to left center to register the Saint's last 2 runs of the game which was called after 6 inning's of play due to the 10 run Mercy Rule.

On the Defensive side of the ball, the Saint's recorded zero error's while giving up 1 run on two hit's thru 6 innings of play.

Mark Donato threw 44 pitches thru 4 innings and only gave up one run on one hit while striking out 4 batters.

Reno Regalbuto came in relief and only gave up one hit thru 2 innings while also striking out 4 batters.

Offensive side of the ball, (Junior) Joe Armata was 1 for 2 with a Homerun and 2 R.B.I.'s. (Sophmores) Mark Donato & Mike Riverso were both 2 for 3. The big bat of the day was (Senior) Dan Behlau who was 2 for 3 with 2 walks, 1 triple, 1 Homerun, 5 R.B.I.'s & 2 stolen bases while scoring three runs.

The Saint's close out their series against Dougherty at home on Thursday, April 10th @ 3:45pm.
