Kenrick series is a split.....

Posted Wednesday, April 02, 2008 by Saint's Reporter

Kennedy Kenrick came out wednesday with fire in their eyes and refused to be swept by the Neumann/Goretti Saint's.

1st inning, the Wolverines got of to a 2-0 lead. After the lead off batter hit into a 5-3, Kenrick's 2 hitter "Basile" reached base on an infield single and moved up to 2nd base on an errored throw by the Saint's 3rd basemen. Kenrick's 3 hitter, Christian Walker stepped up and hit a single up the middle to score their first run, Walker then moved up to 2nd on the throw home. Two past balls would then have Walker move up to 3rd and then score their second and final run of the inning.

The Saint's did'nt do much defensively to help themselves either. After the 2nd inning also started off with the lead off batter hitting into a 5-3, Kenrick's 8 hitter "Guardino" hit a double to centerfield and then 1st base was givin to 9 hitter "Ploskon" who was hit by a pitch. With 1st & 2nd occupied with 1 out, (Senior) Pitcher TJ Kinsey struck out lead off batter "Marino". That's when 2 hitter "Basile" hit a fly ball to rightfield which would have ended the inning with no runs scored but was errored by the rightfielder which scored 2 of 6 runs that was scored that inning by the Wolverines making the score 8-0.

Over the next two inning's, Kenrick put on their final 3 runs to finish with 11 which was enough to ten run rule the Saint's after Five innings by a score of 11-1.

The Saint's recorded their only run in the top half of the 4 inning after (Junior) Joe Armata lead off with a blooping single to centerfield for the Saint's only hit of the game. Armata was replaced on the bases by (Freshmen) Dominic Riverso who moved up to 2nd on an errored throw by Kenrick's 2nd basemen after (Senior) Aggie Osano put the ball into play. (Junior) Blaze Cedrone then walked to load the bases with one out and the Saint's looked like they were about to make a run of it. (Junior) Billy Fulginiti then reached 1st base and recorded an R.B.I. on another errored throw, this time by Kenrick's Pitcher "Barnes" who caught the ball that Fulginiti hit right back to him and was tryin to turn to 2nd for the double play but then decided to try to make the play at home which he threw wildly into home that got away from the catcher and scored Riverso for the Saint's only run.

The Saint's will play a Non-League Game on Saturday @ Glasboro before taking on Cardinal Dougherty on Tuesday, April 8th for the start of the Saint's 2nd series of the season.
