Posted Saturday, March 29, 2008 by Saint's Reporter

The Saint's closed out their Preseason with a 7-3 lose to visiting Father Judge. Bottom of the 1st inning (Sophmore) Mike Riverso walked and stole 2nd base then scored on a rocket double to left field by (Junior) Joe Armata. Armata picked up another R.B.I. in the 3rd on a single after lead off batter (Senior) Dan Behlau walked. The Saint's picked up their 3rd and finale run in the bottom of the 5th inning on a sac fly by (Freshman) Dominic Riverso who knocked in (Senior) Mike O'Hara.

(Sophmore) Pitcher Al Baur held Judge to zero runs while giving up only 2 hits and striking out 5 batters through the first 3 innings.

Top of the 4th, Judge put a little rally together and scored 3 runs to take the lead. Judge's 2nd basemen "Carey" started the inning off with a single to left field and moved up to 3rd on a single to right field by Judges D.H. "Conroy". Carey then scored on yet another single by Center fielder "Dilisio". Judges 7 hitter, "Stout" then bunted for a single to load the bases with no outs. "Zanneo" then hit a 2-1 pitch which was errored by the Siant's leftfielder and scored Judges first 2 runs. Judge's McCaffrey then hit a ball down 3rd base which was charged by (Senior) Aggie Osano who turned and threw back to 3rd base to get the force out. With 2 outs and runner's on 1st & 2nd, Baur had the next 2 batters pop out to end the inning.

Top of the 5th, Baur had the 1st batter fly out to centerfield. 2nd basemen "Carey" then reached base on a throwing error by the Saint's shortstop. After having "Conroy" pop out, Carey scored on a hard hit ball by Judge's 6 hole hitter "Dilisio" that took a bad hop and hit Saint's shortstop (Junior) Anthony Pfettscher in his right shoulder, knocking him out of the game. After Judge's "Stout" reached base on the 3rd error of the game, this time by the Saint's 2nd basemen, Stout was thrown out at 2nd base on a steal attempt by Saint's catcher Joe Armata.

The defense did not give much help today, comitting 5 errors in the field and the only Offensive threat came from (Junior) Catcher, Joseph Armata who finished the day 2 for 3 w/ 2 R.B.I.

The Saint's open their regular season game at 26th & Moore against visiting Kennedy Kenrick on Monday, March 31st @ 3:45pm.
